Which Assaf to try first
140 scents is a lot to choose from. This is a route through the range: by family, by note, by name and by who each scent is listed for.
1. Pick a direction
This guide sorts the 103 scents that come with a note list into nine families, using the notes themselves. For each family, three scents to start with:
- Fresh and citrus: start with Arkle, Aura and Dangerous Arrogate.
- Fruity: start with Arrogate Blue, Arrogate Pink Diva and Boom Blue.
- Floral: start with Addict Blue, Arrogate Addict and Arrogate Euphoria.
- Spicy and aromatic: start with 90s, Arrogate Blue Exclusive and Arrogate Comete.
- Woody and green: start with Alex Enable, Attacks and Challenge.
- Amber, oud and incense: start with Arrogate Bakhur, Arrogate Oud Bakhur and Frankel Battle.
- Sweet and gourmand: start with Deep Amber, Forever Here and Green Iris.
- Musky and powdery: start with Arrogate Girl, Frankel Storm and Gris Erik.
- Leather and tobacco: start with Rebel Enable, Tobacco Jam 60 and Wild Colt Tobacco.
2. Or start from a note
If you already know which notes you like, the notes page lists every note of the range, and 52 notes have a page of their own with all the scents that contain them. The quickest ways in: musk, vanilla, patchouli, bergamot, amber, oud, rose and jasmine. Rarer notes have their page too, among them saffron, incense and leather.
3. Or start from a name
Many Assaf names come in lines that share a word, and the lines are an easy way to move around the range. Each link opens the list of all perfumes, filtered by the word:

4. Who is it listed for?
The listings name an audience for most scents: 28 are listed for men, 33 for women and 48 as unisex. On the list of all perfumes you can filter by that. It is a category, not a rule: a scent listed for men is not off limits to anyone else.
5. Seasons
Where the shop gives seasons, it tags 29 scents for spring and summer only and 20 for autumn and winter only. The scent pages show these tags under key facts, attributed to the shop. Treat all of it as a suggestion.
6. Mind the size
Sizes run from 25 ml to 200 ml, so check the size on the page before you compare. The brand's website lists some scents in more than one size; the key facts show the others.
7. Closest within Assaf
Once you have a scent you like, open its page: the section on its closest siblings names the Assaf scents that share most of its notes and says what is different. The key facts also give a one-line style in this guide's own words.
8. Scents without a note list
